Let’s keep the conversation going…

A few weeks ago, we shared a blog based on the hard topic of bullying. We have been overwhelmed by the response to the post, the calls and messages we have received from people who have read it and the conversations it has provoked.

Through conversations, training, and sadly through experience we are heartbreakingly aware how prevalent bullying is in our world.

This week Hundred Acre’s Founder Bridget Gilmour was back training and the conversation of workplace bullying was there once more. Sharing her own story again the reaction from delegates was not something she expected. The delegates shared that they had lost one of their own colleagues. Bullying in his world got so bad he took his own life in a horrific way.

Since that conversation, others have also shared the harsh reality. From working in the hotel industry and how frequently they have to deal with suicides in their rooms, the stories in the media again and then the bullying we have sadly witnessed ourselves.

This post is not to re-share our own story though as we know talking helps – This is to keep the conversation going.

Bridget has realised that talking encourages others to share, “Talking helps and if by sharing this we can encourage people to reach out for help or encourage others to offer support to someone who is suffering that is a good thing. While I just want it to stop let’s keep talking, keep sharing, and keep the conversation going. It makes a big difference.”

We thought we should share some organisations that can help anyone who might be in trouble or offer support for this unsure what to do to offer help.
