Time to Change the Clocks!

As it is time to change the clocks this weekend, I can’t help but think this time has arrived very quickly this year.

Every year I reflect on a few things to remember to do at the same time as changing the clocks. This year though I can’t quite believe it’s that time already.

2020 might have been a very different year in so many ways to the last few; but boy, have the last few months gone quickly…

Changing times

This October as every year, the seasons are changing, the leaves are falling and the days are getting shorter. As we change the clocks this weekend, it’s time again to remember to carry out a few other checks around the home, office and car that keep us all safe too.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

This is a great time to make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working. While you’re there, if you don’t change the batteries – check the types of batteries they take and make sure you have replacements on hand.

Stay Home, Stay Safe

The clocks have changed and we are looking ahead, well sort of…

This weekend has traditionally been the time we post and share a few routine tasks to check around the house, click here to read last years post.

This year though is different.

Looking out of the window this morning it’s trying to snow and having not left my house for over a week I have no idea what is happening beyond my safe place.

This year it’s all about stay home, stay safe, look after ourselves and more importantly that means looking after and supporting all of our key workers who are keeping our country, and all of the world going.

Look after yourselves, enjoy the daylight – here’s to spring!

At Hundred Acre we’ve worked with clients who’ve had an increase in accidents during the week after the clocks change. Because of the limited light at both ends of the day, it’s not uncommon for staff to fall over outside or for accidents to happen. As the clocks go back, it’s an ideal time...

Spring Forward and Fall Back…

This last couple of weeks, often set against picture-perfect blue skies, the autumn days look beautiful as leaves turn to stunning shades of reds and oranges, though autumn brings with it cold nights and lengthier spells of darkness. Weather conditions worsen, and combined with a lack of light and frosty starts, it’s no surprise that there can be an increase in accidents.

Hundred Acre’s Founder and Director, Bridget Gilmour, explains: “I’ve worked with clients who’ve had an increase in accidents during the week after the clocks change. Because of the limited light at both ends of the day, it’s not uncommon for staff to fall over outside or for accidents to happen. As the clocks go back, it’s an ideal time to spend a little extra time doing a few other checks too. A few simple measures really can prevent accidents from happening and potentially be life-saving.”

Of course, accidents don’t just happen at work. Our homes are...
